Bi-directional multi-protocol managed file transfer for SAP NetWeaver PI

Fast, secure and using multiple file transfer protocols the Spazio Adapter for SAP PI provides comprehensive for the SAP PI (SAP NetWeaver Process Integration software). After it is implemented, your SAP Developers will find it quick and easy to use.

It is a comprehensive SAP managed file transfer solution that facilitates transfers between entities with varying protocols and requirements. All file transfers are fully auditable, and it offers far greater functionality over the traditional FTP approach.

With an exponential growth of data and file transfer needs over more virtual environments Spazio Adapter for SAP PI will help you to deliver fast and secure managed file transfer to your changing business needs and to meet increasingly stringent regulatory and compliance requirements.

The Primeur solution

Working closely with a large SAP user, Primeur has developed and productized a specific SAP PI file adapter which uses Primeur’s multi-protocol secure Managed File Transfer solution, Spazio MFT/SSpazio MFT/S enables Server and Client file transfer functionality, and implements multi-protocol , such as SFTP and AS2, as well as including proprietary transports such as Connect:Direct and WebSphere MQ File Transfer.

The Adapter manages, the reading/writing of data from and to a given application service through a given communication protocol, However, instead of having to stage files to disk the new Spazio Adapter for SAP PI will read/write data directly from and to Spazio MFT/S.

Using SAP PI standards ensures SAP developers have access to the full functionality of Spazio MFT/S which is a major improvement on the restrictions found within FTP Client only and send/receive only to disk functionality currently provided in the SAP PI file adapter.

Example of Spazio Sender / Receiver Channel

Spazio MFT/S enables Server and Client file transfer functionality, and implements multi-protocol , such as SFTP and AS2, as well as including proprietary transports such as Connect:Direct and WebSphere MQ File Transfer. With the file transfer, Spazio MFT/S also implements full traceability and reporting.

Functional Information

Developer
The SAP PI developer can choose to configure a communication channel to and from Spazio using all the parameters relative to credentials and the connection itself.

The functions made available by the Adapter are configured directly in the PI communication channel. The first element that is shown is the list of configuration parameters that are common to both directions of the channel. Next, the lists of configuration parameters for the Sender (Spazio > SAP PI) channel and Receiver (SAP PI > Spazio) channel are shown.

Security
When the Adapter presents itself to Spazio, it uses defined access credentials such as UserId and Password.

Spazio MFT/S will manage all the issues of encryption/decryption at message level through its own standard security component (DSSP).

Send/Receive
All parameterization of the channel (both Sender and Receiver) can be specified by taking advantage of specific A.S.M.A. (Adapter Specific Message Attributes) properties with relevant namespace.

Similarly, the standard SAP PI File Adapter functionality of recordset by message, it’s possible to specify the creation of multiple messages from a single message.

The adapter, in sending, provides the ability to manage multiple messages in append mode directly into Spazio MFT/S. This is similar to the “Append” approach in the Receiver channels of File Adapter. This assumes the use of a specific A.S.M.A. with the relevant namespace through which message mapping will tell the Adapter if the message expects an append specifying the type of record (BOF, Next, EOF). It’s also possible to us an optional CorrelationID to group records.

Archiving
Among the functions available, you can archive all messages in transit in both directions directly on local routes (or mounted in NFS) on the SAP PI application server. Optionally, the timestamp and/or message id can be added to the archived file name.
Traceability & Monitoring
In terms of channel monitoring SAP PI will track the current status, and the outcome of recent transactions. As well as channel status, over and above simple stopped/active, theconnection with Spazio will also be reported as to whether it was operated correctly or there were problems. If there were problems, the relevant details will be reported on the channel monitor.

For each log message there is an associated link, where this is available, to the audit log of the referenced SAP PI message.

Each call to Spazio MFT/S returns a reason code, completion code and a description so that the result of any operation, both receive and send, is traced in the audit log of the message and, as such, is visible via the message monitor.

As a result, the systems log is associated with not only single messages but also the behaviour and status of the channel.
