SPAZIO MFT/S for Distributed Platforms ver. 2.3.4

SPAZIO MFT/S is a comprehensive Managed File Transfer solution, able to cope with multiple heterogeneous platforms and communication protocols for a secure and efficient transfer.

SPAZIO MFT/S supports a wide range of HW/SW platforms, communication protocols (TCP, SNA), Internet protocols (HTTP(S), FTP(S), SFTP, SMTP(S)) and other Managed File Transfers products (Connect:Direct, NetView, XCOM, etc.). Working in conjunction with the complementary SPAZIO Orchestration Suite, it also provides Management capabilities on other transport types at Customer sites.

SPAZIO MFT/S is based on the decoupling of systems involved in the exchange of files and is also available for direct connections. Its embedded Data Security and compression features allow for an efficient and secure transmission and make it particularly suitable for complex and heterogeneous environments.

Management, transformation and connection features can be added, making the product a truly comprehensive integration instrument.

New Features and Enhancements

New batch features

  • Integration with Scheduler
SPAZIO MFT/S 2.3.4 is available with the new utilities SPJSDSP and SPJSACQ for integration with scheduling products. These two utilities provide the following features:

    • Possibility to put routing into waiting until the counterpart confirms reception of the file using the SPAZIO ACK mechanism
    • Impersonation of the user: possibility during routing to specify the user and the password that will be used by the acquirer of the SPAZIO receiving node in order to write the file
    • Customization of the error codes returned by SPJSDSP and SPJSACQ in response to execution with success or with an error
  • New features for SPAZIO MFT/S dispatch
The new option /t WaitAck is available, allowing the router to be made synchronous by waiting for a specific SPAZIO ACK.
  • Enhancements to Static Agenda (SPAZIO application for the automated routing or acquisition of files to/from SPAZIO queues)
When performing a file dispatch operation, it is now possible to specify a codepage to be associated with the file. In file acquisition operations (by record) it is now possible to request the file to be acquired with a codepage supplied by the user.
  • New option in SPAZIO MFT/S acquirer (FILETACQ)
The new option PARTIALSESlog is available, which does not produce any application log when an attempt is made to acquire from an empty queue.

New architecture for the management of the protocols FTP, FTP/S and SFTP

In SPAZIO MFT/S 2.3.4 a new version of our Internet transport is released. This version is based on new Java architecture and in this release can manage FTP, FTP/S and SFTP protocols. With this new architecture SPAZIO MFT/S can play one of these three roles in a file transfer:

  • Server: SPAZIO MFT/S serves requests coming from a protocol client application, mapping the protocol specific objects and verbs to SPAZIO MFT/S specific objects and primitive operations (e.g. an FTP put on a directory will be treated as a SPAZIO MFT/S dispatch on a queue). In this case, SPAZIO MFT/S server can replace an FTP (or FTP/S, SFTP) server.
  • Push Master: SPAZIO MFT/S is a protocol client application that sends (pushes) files stored on a SPAZIO MFT/S remote queue to a remote protocol server instance.
  • Pull Master: SPAZIO MFT/S is a protocol client application that receives (pulls) files from a remote protocol server instance and stores them on a SPAZIO MFT/S local or remote queue.

Virtual File Sistem (VFS)

One of the most important aspects of user related configuration when dealing with file system based protocols such as FTP, FTP/S and SFTP is the definition of virtual file systems (VFS).

When connecting to SPAZIO FTP Server (FTP/S Server or SFTP Server) a user is presented with a virtual file system structure, i.e. a directory hierarchy that does not exist on the real file system but is rendered at runtime by SPAZIO MFT/S and can be navigated as a normal file system.

Each explicit VFS directory is mapped to a SPAZIO MFT/S queue; users accessing the directory via FTP, FTP/S or SFTP will be actually accessing the underlyin queue contents.

Jython support

Some SPAZIO MFT/S master protocols (namely: FTP, FTP/S and SFTP) support a jython based scripting framework.

This framework honors several exit points that are included in transport implementation, where users/integration developers can plug in custom jython code conforming to a documented interface.

This scripting feature can be used to customize SPAZIO MFT/S runtime behavior in a variety of scenarios such as: selective injection of FTP Server specific (SITE) commands, enforcement of file naming convention or complex file filtering on download candidate files.

New Data Secure Open

Data Secure for SPAZIO OPEN edition is add-on product to PRIMEUR’s flagship SPAZIO MFT/S product. It will allow for secure transmission of files within the SPAZIO framework. DSSP Open is an additional module to the SPAZIO MFT/S product line, extending the current security options to open security protocols, supporting state of the art security functionality.

More and more companies rely on electronic FT to exchange data and integrate applications in their distributed environment. SPAZIO MFT/S has gained wide market acceptance and several companies use it on a daily basis as a HUB for managed and secure File Transfer. It is essential therefore that SPAZIO supports secure exchange protocols that are widely accepted and have become de facto standards for Business Data Interchange.

Data Secure for SPAZIO Open Edition (short DSSP OPEN) is currently available and will add those key functionalities to SPAZIO.

The following security features are offered:

  • Standard SSL3/TLS support (FTP/S and HTTP/S)
  • Standard S/FTP (SSH) support
  • Standard Open PGP support

SPAZIO Web Services Access Point (SPAP)

With this option you can use SPAZIO MFT/S using Web Services interface. The supported features are:

  • Put and get a single file in binary mode to/from a SPAZIO local queue
  • List of files in a queue

Using WSDL (Web-Services Description Language), it is possible to write Java, C#, Visual C++, VB.NET or even Cobol programs that access SPAZIO.

Transport Monitor

It is possible to perform global scheduling of all the transports with failed status belonging to a remote queue.

Increased number of applications managed by SPAZIO Monitor

The maximum number of applications that can be controlled by the SPAZIO Monitor is now 128 (NumAppl parameter in SPAPPL.INI).
