Milan, 27 January 2010 - Primeur, a multinational leader company in Managed File Transfer, End-to-End Security and Governance, announces Spazio Ad Hoc: a new enterprise class product for the control and secure management of all the files sent via an e-mail client or an application.

This Primeur solution was designed to meet the challenges faced by companies that need to exchange files - often large files containing critical and/or sensitive data - with counterparts on an occasional basis. The solution provides visibility, security and control for files transferred and, importantly, is easy to configure.

When exchanging documents with internal and external parties, companies use a wide variety of methods. Some of these - such as corporate e-mail, free e-mail programs, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) or peripheral devices such as CDs or USB pen drives - do not provide certainty that the files have in fact been sent and/or received. Most importantly, however, these systems do not provide control and traceability of the data sent and do not prevent either accidental exposure or, even worse, exposure of sensitive company information to obvious security risks.

Spazio Ad Hoc addresses these critical issues within the framework of a robust and Managed and Secure File Transfer system. Unlike traditional MFT systems which require the configuration of complex addresses and network protocols between the parties involved, the Primeur solution uses more intuitive interfaces (such as an e-mail client) and is implemented in a simple way: to activate the transfer all one needs is the e-mail address of the addressee.

As well as ease of use, Spazio Ad Hoc also answers another crucial business requirement: the need for a solution with strong security features. With Primeur’s Spazio Ad Hoc files exchanged between the two parties are subject to encryption, authentication and traceability (audit) for maximum security. In order to block the sending of unauthorized information and to have complete control over the file moved, companies can choose to subject outgoing files to internal policies that, say, compare the contents against predefined business parameters.

Spazio Ad Hoc has two primary functions: E-mail Offloading - the sending of files inserted as attachments in an e-mail program, and E-mail Notification - for applications that generate automatic e-mails with notification of the file sent.

Spazio Ad Hoc embeds an HTTP/S link, for downloading the file securely, into the e-mail and passes the e-mail on to the e-mail server for dispatch to the recipient. The previously attached file can be checked, for instance for adherence to corporate content management policy, by Spazio Ad Hoc before being made available for downloading through the HTTP/S link inserted into the e-mail. Spazio Ad Hoc maintains a full audit trail and can trigger alerts based on user defined parameters.

The E-mail Offloading functionality of Spazio Ad Hoc is independent of the e-mail application because the separation between e-mail and attachment takes place on the mail server, and not at the e-mail client. This reduces operating expenses through not having to deploy the solution on every installed client, provides flexibility by enabling any client (such as iMac) to be used, and minimizes on-going maintenance and support thus also minimizing Total Cost of Ownership.

In the case of E-mail Notification, users of a web application or a batch application can pass an e-mail address and file to Spazio Ad Hoc. The e-mail address is used to generate an automatic e-mail to the recipient with custom built text and an HTTP/S URL for securely downloading the file. The capability to control the file according to policy and have a complete audit trail is exactly the same as for E-mail offloading above.
