Even though the use of Messaging is growing, File Transfer is still the most widely used method of Data Movement and these files often contain high value / confidential data.

This data is at risk and may be wire tapped, modified while in transit, or otherwise tampered with. Also issues about the identity of the originator and of the sender are often of high importance.

In cases where high value data needs to be exchanged, or where the law requires some form of data protection for privacy reasons the above risks are not acceptable and appropriate pre-emptive countermeasures need to be taken.

FILESEC is the command-line component of the Data Secure Suite, available by script or JCL, that allows pre-post process of files. It provides functions for cryptographic and certificate-related operations on S/MIME and PKCS#7 objects and allows for unlimited size file operations.

Filesec is available now on most distributed platforms.
